Memes for Linda

I’ve been memed. It was a while ago, but I’m getting around to it now. Sorry, for the delay Linda.

8 things about me. . . .

1. I can’t keep up with my blog. Fortunately, my site meter shows that there aren’t that many people that notice.

2. I have never cheated on girlfriend. I hadn’t realized that until I was discussing that with someone. I guess I should keep that information handy in case I ever have to post something on Match.com.

3. As far as I know, I am still the record holder in Philadelphia for being the youngest case of Varicose Veins. I had 6 veins removed from the back of my left leg (just behind the knee). I was 7 at the time. There has been much scar tissue to follow.

4. I consider myself to be very observant. I use this to often to convince people that I am smarter than I am. Whatever works. As for actual intelligence. Other than mindless trivia, I choose to keep all my knowledge inside other people’s heads. Then it’s just a matter of knowing what head I keep it in.

Okay, Only 4 to go. . . . .

Sucking Wind!

Last night the season finale of HOUSE was on. A great show. The episode was pretty good and it set up a nice “I wonder what they are going to do next year” thing. However, it paled in comparison to THE SHEILD. THE SHEILD is a GREAT show. One of the best on television, and considering the shows that have been on the air in the last few years, that is saying something.

The last few minutes of the show last night was a moment fans of the show have been waiting for for over an entire season. Everyone on the show is good. Anthony Anderson went from the bumbling buffoon from Big Mama’s House and Kangaroo Jack to one of the best bad guys on television in just a few episodes. He proved that with a little acting effort, you can break the typecast.

I won’t ruin the end for those who watch the show but haven’t seen last nights episode, but I will be camped out in front of the TV next Tuesday at 10:00. . . . .viewer discretion is advised.

Teed Off!

This weekend was the 6th Annual Heritage Hills Golf Outing. And, again, a good time was had by all.

Reader’s of Wyatt’s
  • Support Your Local Gunfighter
  • blog will have read about the event last week and I’m sure will be updated soon. Keep in mind that his reaccouting of events are, at best, a little blurred. That foursome was a mess. . . . but you will have to go to the above link for details. I did manage to get a picture of Wyatt at the bar Sunday night:

As for Deathlok’s foursome. Having all my friends turnout, I could only sport a threesome. My friend Burnsy and I drove up on Sunday morning. Although we had time for a drink or two with our friend Jim before tee time, we were unable to compare with the two trays of shots that were purchased by a certain soppy group that arrived a little earlier than us. Our fourth member, again, brought his own. Yes, Grimjack brought his foursome with him. I think he was

It was a beautiful day and the conditions were great. Thus, we golfed like crap. Even with a little Guinness to lubricate the joints. . . .not so good. As the day progressed (if you can call that progress), we began betting drinks for any ball hit into the water. Now we got serious. My wife bought me Breast Cancer Awareness golfballs. . .yes they were pink. So, I took the expected abuse. It was salved by the fact that no matter how bad I hit the ball, we found it. They aren't Flying Lady pink golf balls. They are tasteful Breast Cancer Awareness pink. There's a big difference. The big difference is that I had a Flying Lady and I lost it after the first hit.

Dinner was a fiasco. They had a 5 items for $5.00 in 5 minutes. So we ordered one of everything that is 5 minutes. It took over an hour. I looked at the terms and conditions about 5 times and no where did it say "or free". They did apolgize and are changing to a Buffet for next year. This will give us more time to drink.
After dinner, the drink were flowing. A few girls strolled in, so we began taking bets on who in our group was going to get us all thrown out or arrested. I had my money on some guy with a green hat. If there would have been a winner, it would have been me. Nice Tact.

I got the unofficial word that the tally for the Chocolate cake shots totalled two bottles of Frangelica, but I am skeptical. I believe that I saw Vinnie and my brother Sean drink at least one complete bottle themselves. Burnsy was initiated with a Chocolate cake shot. As with everyone that does their first one, he made the "OH MY GOD! That taste exactly like chocolate cake" face.

When they started setting up for breakfast, we went to bed. The thought of "Hey! If I don't go to bed now, I'll miss this when there is food here." helps.

Monday's round of golf was a scrabble for our group. That was fun, fast, and much less strenuous.

All and all, a great weekend.

    Movie Review

Today’s movie review is Music and Lyrics starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. I was HYSTERICAL! A veritable laugh riot. Personally, I find Hugh Grant funny.

If you are a fan of the 80s you will appreciate this. The beginning of the movie has a music video in it that was obviously done after studying many new wave videos. I saw a lot of Duran Duran, Mister Mister and AHA in the video. Zippychik and kah should be out there renting as we speak.

I postponed watching Déjà vu for this and I was not disappointed.

And The Winner So Far. . . ..

My son and I went to see a Preview of Shrek the Third last night. As a subscriber to Entertainment Weekly, the talk for Summer supremacy will be fought amongst Spider-Man 3, Shrek 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3. The battle so far.

Like being the last guy in a Fear Factor competition, if the other guys do well, you are in for a tough time. However, if the other contestants fall on their face, you are skating though. You may be skating through a pool of animal urine . . . .but you get my point.

    To date:

    Spider-Man 3

Spider-Man 3 was a great movie. It was fun to watch. Touched on a lot of thing s from the comic (if altered a bit. . .I mean you can’t quite through Gwen Stacy off the bridge after the first movie now can you). The Harry storyline was well adapted.

Three villains was a bit much, but it was pulled off better than most Batman movies, which usually have two. The Sandman was great. The effects were the hit of the movie. And not to give anything away, but I loved that a villain in a superhero movie wasn’t definitively killed. Venom, who was originally a cool villain in the comics has gotten a bit overused and watered down. However, the movie captured the essence of the original Venom stories from the early 90s. The new Green Goblin was a bit weak in the costume area. I would have preferred the Hobgoblin outfit.

Mary Jane was not very good in this movie. She brought the wine to the cheese that was Peter Parker’s dance scene. Despite what Wyatt says, Bryce Dallas Howard is hot.

There were two subtle things that Sam Raimi left us in the movie. One I loved, One I hated. I loved the paper on the wall in Jameson’s office that suggests that Doc Ock might still be alive. I hated the slam Sam left for the next movie. What You say? Doctor Connors (AKA The Lizard) has been floating around the last three movies. So when are we going to see the Lizard? According to the latest movie. . . NEVER. There is a scene where Curt Connors says something to the effect that he is a Chemist, not a Biologist. So he would never be doing biological experiments on himself and thus become the Lizard.

Overall a very good movie. Not as good as Number 2, but high marks all around. . . except for that drawn out dance thing.

    Shrek The Third.

Hey! It was free. My son thought it was great. It didn’t stink, but it lack depth. It was like the other Mike Myers #3. . . . Goldmember. There were a few smirks, but no real life to the characters and the storyline was practically a myth. Take your kids, they will like it. You won’t be crying blood, but don’t get your hopes up. I rate it an “eh”.

Highlights from the movie consist of the scenes with the Girls )Pheona, Snow White, Beauty (Sleeping), Rupunzel, Cinderella and the Queen. Other than that, it was a bland little feature.

So, Pirates has to aim high to beat out Spider-Man 3, but has little to worry about from Shrek. I think that Harry Potter will have a good shot at fairing better in this battle. Personally, I getting Jonesed to see the Fantastic Four sequel.

Congratulations to the new Democratic Mayoral Candidate for Philadelphia. . . Michael “Squidward” Nutter. Although he only slightly resembles Squidward, you need but listen to this guy talk once. Vocally, he is a dead ringer for the Squid.

    Blogging Crisis!!

I can’t seem to keep up. Like many who are in the blogsphere, I have spent a lot of time read blogs and trying to write blogs. Of course, if you are writing blogs, you should be reading your readers blogs. Thus you get more readers . . . which gives you more to read. And like Fabrege, and so on and so on and so on. . . .

So, nothing gets done. As an Obsessive Compulsive, I then feel the need to write something before nobody stops by. . . .like now.

So, what have I been doing that is better and more important than blogging? I have been spending time with the family. My son’s soccer is taking up a lot of time. Work is very busy and I am still pushing for that promotion . . . AND I’m still saddled with the worst contract ever. Work sent me to sunny (yet snowy - -Depends on your elevation) Colorado Springs. Very nice. I have pictures but they are still in the camera.

Of course, I take the time to win the occasional Caption Contest, read a blog or two. I’m better at reading and commenting than I am at posting. . . .. really? Haven’t noticed!

So, I haven’t given my view on Spider-Man 3 or Hot Fuzz. I haven’t kept up on the postings for the playoff pool or the Stanley Cup run. I haven’t even talked about the voice of both Sweet Polly Purebred in the new Underdog movie and the voice of the new Disney 2D movie. . . . . . .Guess!

I hope all is well with everyone and I will hopefully post something soon or go from semi-retirement to full blown. . . . “I’M OUT!”

Of course, this weekend is the big Golf Outing! I'm sure that Wyatt will tell you all about it! I am READY! I was practicing just this October. Bring it!

    Play On!!

Hockey is into Round 3 and is just AWESOME!!
