Not to dwell on one topic, but I found this picture of my Father-In-Law, circa late 1950s. As Wyatt pointed out, the police car was probably red.Just thought the I would share. . . . .

They should still use them so that I can see them on the Expressway.

That's such an awesome photo! Glad you posted it. And I checked, back then it was most probably a red car.
I remember the red cars for the regular police, and black ones for the cops who patrolled the parks. It was weird when the blue ones started showing up.
